Traditional Japanese weddings are very different to those we enjoy in the west. They are a much more sombre affair with more time spent on reflection and preparing for a new life together.

I was lucky enough to spend the day with Hiro and Kathleen at their wedding at the Narita Nikko hotel and the nearby Naritasan Shinshoji Temple just east of Tokyo. It was truly wonderful to see two very different families coming together to celebrate the union between two people, I think everyone left the day with a new appreciation for both Japanese and Canadian traditions.

This was the last wedding that I shot before leaving Japan, and after 6 amazing years it was a fitting send-off for a magical place.
