I was recently approached by the team at the AusVeg publication “Potatoes Australia” to produce a profile of Dan Parker, a local potato grower based near Birregurra just outside of Colac.

While we were working on a tight deadline and the notoriously fickle Victorian weather we managed to find a day where the weather was good and Dan was gracious enough to give me a tour of his farm. One thing I wanted to achieve with this series was to get a real sense of the things that he gets up to on a daily basis and not just make staged portraits. I think in the end we were able to get a good blend of the two and everyone came away happy.

One of the things I’ve been excited about since moving out to the Otway region is being able to work with a much wider range of clients than just those in the wedding and corporate field. While I absolutely love shooting weddings it’s great to be faced with new challenges and problems to solve, if nothing else it helps keep me fresh and I can often bring lessons I’ve learned doing one style of work and apply them to something completely different.
